With a little imagination, that expands to “Programmer Attack Squad.” We’re not yet sure exactly which of us, Boris and myself, is ‘super’ and which is ‘turbo’ but we’ve decided that Will needs to be iüber’ because he lacks proper germanness (even though he isn’t a programmer). And Power Blogger is the torso.Voltron coolness aside, ever since I discovered the beauty that is open source I have had a goal of becoming skilled enough in a variety of programming languages to be able to create a viable alternative to any project that is not released open source. Traditional business concepts in regards to software need to be put down, it isn’t the same world anymore and they can’t charge for what should be free; as the availability of knowledge spreads faster every day, models based on exclusivity of information live on an increasingly shortened timeline. Enterprise software as it is today has reached the end of its road, and I want to help bury it.The idea then, is to get some bright minds on the task. Basically, I want to develop a programmer task force, a few like-minded, highly talented code junkies to drive those who will not share their knowledge out of software.I’m a bit of a dreamer, perhaps, wishing for a world where talent rules over obscurity and exclusivity of knowledge, but I’ll be damned if the world wouldn’t be a better place. And I think it will happen anyway. Current software relies on there being too few people who can create the same thing to pose a problem and that simply won’t be the case for too much longer, especially if I have anything to say about it. Fuck the suits, pay the teachers.
